3. Halloween, Christmas
* This time of year teachers, parents and children start to
look forward to Halloween and Christmas. You can see all our
Halloween songs in our Scarey, Spooky songs section.
* I've had lots of requests for new MusicSheets for Christmas
songs, so we are busy preparing a new batch for this year. They
should be ready next week. We already have MusicSheets for more
than 20 of the most popular Christmas songs.
4. Swine Flu
Unfortunately, the official start of the 2009 flu season has been
declared - 5 weeks earlier than is typical. Basic prevention
strategy:
* First isolate the ill from the well. Anyone with the flu
should stay home until the later of 7 days from 1st symptoms or
1 day after the last day at fever of 100 degrees or more.
* The second strategy is cleaning (at least daily) of any
surface, which may have been touched by someone with the flu,
germs can survive on such surfaces for 5 days. Use alcohol of
60% or more.
* wash your hands frequently - and "vigorously" for 20+ seconds.
* Unless you have other health problems or encounter sever flu
symptoms, you are advised to stay home. Don't jam up emergency rooms.
* Keep masks, or just Kleenex handy...to cover the person with
the flu symptoms.
* Check with your school or employer on absenteeism rules -
if you need to care for yourself or a child.
Bill Harley is giving you a free download of his song
"Wash Your Hands."
It starts:
When you're sitting in class, There's a tickle in your nose
Then you let out a sneeze and it finally explodes
You look down at your hand, It's all covered with that goo,
Don't wipe it anywhere, You know what to do!
Go to Bill's website to get the download.
Cathy and Ross Bollinger are also helping spread the word by
giving you their song "When You Sneeze." Get the free song at
their website.
5. More Free Music
Lunch Money is giving away their CD Dizzy! as a free download to
anyone who signs up for their mailing list! Yes, that's the whole
CD-12 great songs. Go to the sign up page to find out more!
Debbie and Friends are giving away a free download of
"So, So Happy" a new song scheduled to be on their next CD
entitled "More Story Songs and Sing Alongs."
Mr. Steve, co-host of the PBS KIDS preschool program is giving
you a free download of his song "Kindness." Get it at the
SteveSongs website.
6. Where the Wild Things Are
I've never understood why the great children's book, "Where the
Wild Things Are" has never been made into a movie. It was written
in the early 60s. Maybe the author/illustrator didn't have
confidence that animators couldn't adequately bring his characters
to life! Well the movie has now been made, and judging by the
trailer, it looks as if it was worth waiting for. You can see the
trailer here, and judge for yourself. I think it's going to be a
big hit.
7. Band Music
If you are interested in band music, the The BandMusic PDF Library
contains musical gems from the time when professional bands were
wildly popular. In addition to touring the country, performing in
cities and towns across America, the bands attained stardom status
at fairs, centennials and exhibitions.
There are currently more than 500 sets of sheet music in their
collection and they are all free.
